Pastoral Staff

Dr. Don Strange, pastor of the Winkler Road Baptist Church, can best be described as a man of the Book.  He has a way of taking the Word of God and making it come alive each time he stands in the pulpit.

God has used Pastor Strange to accomplish much for His glory in Fort Myers, Florida, since he became pastor in 1986. Under his leadership, the church has grown steadily and become debt free.

The church reaches out to Lee County through a thriving bus ministry which has brought thousands of  people to church over the past forty-one years. Several Sunday school classes are available for people of all ages to learn and grow in God's Word. The church's worldwide missions program currently supports more than one hundred sixty-seven home and foreign missionaries each month.  Prior to coming to Fort Myers, Pastor Strange pastored in Lexington, Kentucky for almost fifteen years.

Dr. Strange was born in Winchester, Kentucky. He and his wife, Judy, have four children – LaDonna Ryggs, Angela VanOrman, David Strange and Darla Holbrook. He and Mrs. Strange are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pastor Robert Sutton, Associate Pastor of Winkler Road Baptist Church, joined the staff January 1, 1998.

Pastor Sutton is a long time friend of Pastor and Judy and as a child had a dream of being on staff with Pastor.  Psalm 37:4 always comes to mind when he thinks how the Lord opened the door to come to Winkler Road.   "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

Pastor Sutton was born in Massena, New York.  He and his wife Kim met while in Bible College in Oklahoma.  He and Mrs. Sutton have four children, Amber Bowman, Amanda LaMantia, Jonathan  Sutton and Ashley Lanpher.  They also have six grandchildren.

Bro. Joe  Calger,  Youth Director of Winkler Road Baptist Church, joined the staff in August of 2006.

Bro. Joe was born in Oklahoma, but spent some of his childhood here in the Fort Myers area as well as in Tennesee before going to Bible College.  He and his wife Sarah have been a wonderful addition to the Winkler Road family.
